I just received my Remington brass(7mm Mag) from Midway. When i was looking it over i noticed the flash hole was not in the center of the primer pocket. I'm not talking about just a lil off center, it's definitely off. Has anyone else seen this and in their brass and if so has there been a noticeable difference in how it shot? I'm wondering if i should call Midway and return the brass or just shoot it? Anyone's thoughts would be great

Re: Flash hole in Remington Brass

I had some Winchester brass that had the same problem. I don't know if it would have been a problem but I decided to send it back. Midway took it all back including the 50 that I had started to process. Replaced it with Lapua.

This is what my brass looked like.

Thanks TN-MadDog,
I will call them in the morning, that's pretty awesome they gave you lapua brass to boot! I was hoping to have someone tell me something tonight, i need to start doing some load work soon i hope this doesn't take to long to get some back...

I did have to pay the difference. I decided that my time and the cost of components was too much to waste on that brass. I had purchased a pretty good quantity and the other bags didn't look any better.

Re: Flash hole in Remington Brass

I've had brass of several brands over the years with off-center flash holes. It's just a result of poor maintenance and quality control - maybe on just one of their many machines. I'm thinking this is an isolated incident rather than a typical situation. It does show that it pays to check out your brass, though, even if it's new and from a reputable manufacturer.

Okay; IF you're routinely punching 1/4 MOA groups with your 7 mag then centered flash holes might make a difference.
