Just woke up to a weather alert, looks like another flood event in texas , over 8 inches of rain has fallen in the last 4 hrs , lake buchanan is still 5ft below the spillway but that might change before the day is over , that 8 inches is at bend about 10 miles above lake buchanan , hope the weekend campers along the river evacuate in time cause this could end up like kerrville all over again, pray for texas we need it , lord help us.

What are we all supposed to be distracted from? If it’s not multiple 1000 year floods, it’s wildfires leveling cities. Here in snow Mexico towns and highways are constantly burned or threatened. This was not the case decades ago. I was there. This seems to happen whenever necessary to cover up some other bullshit in the world.

I wonder if it's not that things like this didn't occur decades ago, but that with 24hr news and weather channels and sites pushing content constantly, we are inundated with information constantly. I was born in an age when news was ½hr local and ½hr national, 3 times if one stayed up until 11. Now news is inescapable.
