Wesley Chapel homeowner shoots, kills armed robbers; surviving suspect faces murder charges

A homeowner in Wesley Chapel shot and killed two of three suspected armed robbers who tried to break into his home early Friday morning, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. A third suspect is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Does Florida have provisions to charge the accomplices of criminals with murder if their friends are killed in the course of committing the crime? I know Oklahoma does... Several years ago, three hoodrats armed with stolen handguns and baseball bats decided to head out into the suburbs and targeted one guy's house. The homeowner DRT'd all three with an AR-15 as they were entering his front door after they kicked it down. The chick that was waiting in the car as their getaway driver was charged with 3 counts of murder and was given life without parole... That was given frontpage coverage in American Rifleman Magazine and it was the MOST talked about subject in the gunnie circles for a pretty long time because it was so fucking spectacular that even greased ninjas swimming through sewers killing chupacabras with laser katanas seem as dull as your local grumpy supermarket cashiers...

Yes, Florida does have that law and the article says that the surviving perp was charged with two counts of murder.

A couple of interesting points in the article:

• An armed neighbor, responding to the gunshots captured the wounded suspect by gunpoint. Good neighbor to have.
• The homeowner and the suspects were connected in some way. Investigation ongoing. Too many times, these home invasions are drug related, meaning the homeowner may not be completely innocent himself. We shall see.
