Anybody have one or fired one? what you think about it? Guy I know that owns the local gun store has one and swears by it. I'm a huge m1a fan though and he said he'd pick one over m1a or a ar platform. But if it's so great why doesn't everyone have one?

I dont have one but I shot the first six of them in the early development stage before production. The ones you see in the magizine articles with the MK4 scopes on them, some shot well and some didnt. The lighter ones seem to have better barrels than the heavy ones. Dont know why, they just do. They had problems to start with but it seems to have been taken care of. They should easily shoot sub MOA. FN doesnt let them go if they dont do MOA. Its not an M1A and it isnt an AR. Its very old school and most people would take an AR-10 first. I'm not sure what the target market is supposed to be. It might make a great patrol car gun for police wanting 308 power. I'd take one over an M1A for that purpose but not an AR-10 but the FN may be more media friendly for police to be seen using. (Its a sad world we live in.)
To answer your question....Its not that its not a good gun, its not tactical enough for the tastes of many on this forum. Lots of safe queens out there and this one just isnt cool enough. If you really need a close to mid range 308, there are great AR-10s that I'd rather have and the FN AR isnt what I'd use for long range work. Its just a good solid semi that has been around for years and now has a rail and a pistol grip and many of us DO have them but they say Browning and they have great track records but they are old school hunting guns. I have two chambered in 30-06 and 338 Win Mag. dont need or want another heavy semi-auto hunting gun.
