Gunsmithing FN model 70 short mag box

I have a FN 70 short mag box .473 bolt face that allows me to seat bullets out to 2.850.

Can the magazine box be lengthened to seat bullets to 3.00?

I notice a strip of metal inside the box that will not allow the cartridge to be seated any further.

Can that be taken out and allow the magazine to function properly?

Yes.

You will probably have to shorten the bolt stop so the bolt will pick up cartridges after removing the spacer.
