Out of these 3 rifles, which one would you go with and why?

Going to be my first precision rifle, in 308 of course. Each has a CRF action, which I am a big fan of.

The TSR and Stealth would eventually get a different stock, but the plus to that is it frees up more money to spend on good glass.

The SPR has been on the short list of wants, and I have read rave reviews of it. Has a McMillan stock from the get go, and the chrome lined bore and warranty are very appealing. Quite a bit more then the other two rifles though.

Thanks for any help and input,

    A.J.

Definitely an SPR. It's a gun you can grow with. It has everything you need minus a scope, and plenty accurate. The other two you'll have to put money into as you get better, but who knows that's what you may want to do. My advise is to spend the money on an SPR and be done with it.

I had two FN SPR’s, both a1’s, one in 300 wsm and one in 308. The 308 had the older style DBM and the 4 round mags sucked... I went through five mags three of which broke at the spot welded coil spring/mag body junction. I eventually swapped it to a floor plate mag but then found a Stealth and fell in love that rifle. And because I had to get a different stock on the FN for the mag box change I had a extra stock on hand and swapped out the B&C varmint the stealth comes with and sold the SPR shortly thereafter. As I understand it the new SPR’s have a new mag design so the issue I was having should now be fixed. That was my only complaint with the SPR... I sold the 300wsm and kind of regret that now.

Now as to the differences between the stealth and the FN beside the stock and chrome...

Barrel contours are nearly identical with the stealth being 2 inches longer. The stealth I have has a fast barrel. I can send 175’s down range at 2730 and approach 2800 with 168 berger hybrids without pushing my load into the unknown. My top loads in the SPR with 175’s was about 75fps less. If you reload the lands are quite a bit closer with the stealth than the SPR. I no longer have my notes on the FN but IIRC it was about .075-.1 longer with the 175 smk. I personally bedded both rifles and the stealth is the more accurate of the two I had/have. The triggers are different and the FN is easily adjustable while the MOA trigger in the Stealth isnt as easy. From the factory my stealth was good but a little heavy for my taste, around 5.5 pounds. A simple spring swap and screw tuning has me right around 2.5-3 now and as good as any replacement I have used on my remingtons.

So in short both are good rifles. If FN would put a KMW cheek piece on the a3g I’d buy it in a second...

TSR and Stealth are great (GREAT) rifles, but I'd still choose the SPR.

I had an A3G which was awesome but lacked a DBM, which I needed.

Ended up building a custom based on an SPR action.

A friend bought an A1on my recommendation and absolutely loves it. It's just a really solid, nice action.

You'll wish you'd of gotten the spr, I think.
