So I am about to send my first barrel away to be chambered in 243AI, The plan is to run the Matrix 117's from an AICS mag with the front plate removed. From what I have gathered, I can get an OAL of about 2.93" ish or a bit more from that magazine set up.
I will be sending a dummy round to have the barrel throated for this bullet.
My question is: What OAL would YOU start out with to allow some room to chase the lands?
I figured start at 2.85" which gives me .08" or more to chase the lands with. Sound about right? Will the barrel be shot out and need to be set back/replaced before I've lost that much throat?
