What is the diffrence in a FFP or a second focal plane?

Your help is appreciated.

FFP - the reticle will grow with increasing magnification. great for ranging at any power.

SFP - the reticle stays constant, but you can only range using a particular power setting.

Where the reticle is in relationship to the magnification...

With Front Focal Plane scopes the reticle works properly on all powers, with Second Focal Plane scopes the reticle only works accurately on one power, usually max power but sometimes on others.

Front Focal Plane scopes, the reticle changes in size in relationship to magnification on Second Focal Plane scopes the reticle stays the same size regardless of power.

tell us your shooting needs and we can help with a good choice of the 2. For ranging I know my FFP, for bench and targets I have never had any issues with SPF

You know how type O's go...LOL

I will be using both, hunting and bench. I want to get a scope for LR shooting, prone, bench. I am somewhat new to this style of shooting and it is getting very addicting.
