It's sad that an occasion of honor, remorse and humility is so remarkable among celebrities and the kiss ass media.
The guy did something stupid and killed someone in the process. Would that more people act like men of honor and face up to the consequences of their negligence or arrogance.

That he did not attempt to fight it, is certainly the only commendable thing.
