is the Forster Bench Rest and Ultra Micrometer Seating die the same die, but the Micrometer model has numbers on the knob?

I have the Ultra Micrometer model for 6.5Cr and see its advantages for using different bullets or feeding different guns, but it seems if Im only feeding one gun/bullet combo the BR set should be just fine as long as it as good at seating the bullet straight as the Ultra Micro set is.

My understanding is that yes, the difference between the BR and Ultra seating dies is in the head (of the die, not of the reloader). I agree that having the BR die as a set-it-and-forget-it type of thing should work, but there may be lot-to-lot differences in projectiles that could alter your base-to-ogive dimension, thus requiring a bit of tweaking to get the die readjusted.

If those variances don't matter to you, then the BR die is likely sufficient for your needs... but if you're really wanting to get your loaded ammo as consistent as possible, then the Ultra die may be worth the extra few bucks.

In my case, I run the Ultra dies for those rounds where I'm striving for as much consistency as I can get, and the BR dies for my hunting rounds (where shot-to-shot consistency isn't as important as is where that first cold bore shot lands).
