I am trying to set my seating die to read zero at my lands. Using the stem screw on top of the die. My reasoning is that I can go in and out off zero for my load seating bump or off the lands. Anyone have experience with this idea?

I mean I don't do this with any of my Forster dies but make a dummy round that is just touching the lands. Then put in your press and raise into your die with the stem backed way out and the cap zero. Now screw the stem down till it touches...

Ok, you can do that. But in order to be accurate you must do it under load.
The way that works for me.

1) Set the die micrometer to zero and unscrew the seating stem.
2) Take a sized case and seat the bullet check your CBTO.
3) Screw the seating stem in and repeat step 2 until you reach .007 to .005 of the CBTO you desire.
4) When you get within .007 or so use a different case and bullet.

Lock your stem nut and you should be good.

If you change your neck tension you will probably see a change in the seating depth.
