Foundation stock and ingenuity rail

I’ve also been considering this.
With the new centurion, you can tell a huge difference in stability when you run it without an arca rail on a bag. It’s like running a gamer plate. Of course you lose the arca rail. I’ve been keeping the rail in my back and tossing it on when I need it (just two bolts) and keeping the short arca on it up front most of the time.
The ingenuity rail would be a good solution.
I asked if they would inlet one for the ingenuity rail a bit over 12 months ago but was told no. I decided not to get one because just from looking at where the stock is milled for weight reduction I wasn't confident about in letting the rail in without comppromising the strength of the stock. Someone who owns one may know more about that tho
Just talked to Paul at Ingenuity And he has some aluminum arca rails that his Ingenuity rail fits in that would be a good solution if your looking to add his rail to a Foundation stock. He also is working on some steel arca rails for those wanting more weight up front too. If you want just the ingenuity rail you’ll have to fill the slot for the Anschutz rail and then mill it out.
I'm not sure but he has done a lot of stock work for hide members including me. He does good work.
I have 1 of these on my krg and really lile it. On a foundation with the 2.5 inch wide forend however you would loose the advantage if the wide forend. I have toyed with the idea of of getting a wider one milled. It's such a pity they won't make the stock to fit the ingenuity rail. It would make for an amazing combination. Wide forend with lightning fast push button bipod movement and slide in arca plate
That defeats purpose. You lose stability with arca rail on the centurion. Solution needs to be flush mount like the rail they ship with.
I just got mine and haven't had time to experiment much with this, but it seems like using the rail would help when sitting on top of a bag because the edges of the rails will dig in.
I just switched from a chassis and I can tell a huge increase in stability with the Centurion even w the full rail.
Yes I spoke with Paul in-depth about this. I’m just looking for someone that has done it.
I know that he has installed them before. I can’t speak for specifically Foundation stocks but he has done two sentinel stocks for me. His price is very reasonable and a much faster turn around that some other options.
Just use a 4.5” ARCA rail and move it to the back of the forend when you need it there?

It will do the opposite. You will be able to feel how the rail effectively turns the 2.6” forearm into a 1.5” forearm.
I understand. Just throwing out the option for those who might not know Paul also has a full length arca rail that will attach to the Foundation.
So, after about 1500 rounds (maybe more) on mine with and without the arca rail, I need to clarify as I’ve noticed several things. First off, this is shooter dependent.
So, without the arca rail, the width of the stock really takes a lot of the lateral movement out. Almost the same as a gamer plate. Without the rail riding the bag, the forend acts like an F class or BR stock. It will slide back and forth very well.
This may or may not be good depending on the shooter. For me, as I prefer to manage recoil as best as possible (I will use variations of free recoil at times, but it’s not my first choice), the sliding back and forth didn’t suit me as well.
With the full arca on the bag, the lateral is still pretty good (not gamer plate good like without rail), but for me personally it cuts down on my back and forth movement. My lateral wobble isn’t that much, and the rail really gets me stable as far as forward and aft.
So, this may have been what you were thinking with it “digging in” and I think I may have been wrong that it doesn’t.
For me personally, running the rail really lets me lock it in. I have used it both ways for many rounds. Today I shot 40 rounds without and 40 rounds with the rail. This was standing off a very stable steel barricade and I was taking my time (though not shooting incredibly slow either). I was shooting a 1moa plate at 400yds.
My impact % was 80% without the arca rail and 93% with the rail.
I also saw a noticeable difference in reticle rise during recoil. Without the rail tracked back better and less reticle rise. With the rail, the reticle climbed more. Both were easily little enough to spot shots at 3/400.
Some shooters may benefit more without the rail. So I’d recommend testing both ways. If you free recoil much, without the rail really let’s the rifle track back very well.
