Does it matter if I have the firing pin bushed before or after the action is trued, etc?

I am having one smith do the bushing and another the action, and I just don't want to do it in the wrong order--if it matters.

Re: FP Bushing Question

I'm certainly no expert, but I would think it makes sense to bush the FP hole and then do the action truing. This is assuming that the gunsmith is going to square the bolt face as part of the process.

Re: FP Bushing Question

The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that the action should be trued first. My thinking likewise has to do with squareing the boltface. If in fact the boltface requires machining, the FP hole could theoretically be "oblonged" in the process--assuming the FP hole was orginally drilled perfectly perpendicular to the "unsquare" boltface.

By bushing after truing, when the new hole is drilled in the now bushed bolt, everything hould come out square.

Probably overthinking this one...
