They seem pretty similar. Raised rib on Franchi, low rib on Benelli, nicer wood/bluing on Benelli vs matte finish on Franchi. Anything internal drastically different? Salesman was saying benelli has a chrome lined chamber vs non on the franchi. I assume higher resale value with the benellli but that likely won't come up, $250 difference up front (locally $999 for Benelli, $750 for Franchi).
This would be for pheasants/doves/sporting clays. Already have a SBE, Win SX2, and Mossberg 930 for autoloaders.
 
Franchi and Benelli are part of the Beretta group. Benelli Montefeltro has better finish and slimmer where-as the Franchi is a bit meatier. I would go with the Montefeltro Silver.
