LEO's are allowed to join the Active Duty military in the classes offered by SFC (R) Southard. Contact MWR for this. Military go through MWR Or WTU. Wounded Warriors go through WTU.

Re: Ft. Huachuca to allow LEO's in free classes

This does not apply to me, but just out of curiosity, what kind of classes are these?

Re: Ft. Huachuca to allow LEO's in free classes

Intermediate Combat Handgun. This class was designed by SFC Southard, Massad Ayoob, and Marty Hayes after a request from G I's at Ft. Lewis.
SFC Southard (RET) is assigned to the WTU at Ft. Huachuca so began the classes there. Military students in the may 27th class include 3 M P NCO's 1 S F Officer, and one Aieman form D M.
The LEO's include one member of this forum and 4 from Phoinix, and one Customs Agent.

One more basic class will be scheduled in June and then there will be 2 classes a month, one intermediate and one advanced with attendence at the first a pre-req.
In addition MWR is preparing a contract for civilians to pay a fee to attend the class.

Wow, really? I gotta tell ya, I spent a little over 2 months there for AIT, and I couldn't wait to leave, talk about out in the middle of nowhere and nothing to do....

Although, that being said, it looked pretty good when I first got there from Ft. Leonard Wood.

Re: Ft. Huachuca to allow LEO's in free classes

Wow, someone said they love Ft Wegotya? I have been here for almost a year and not liking it that much.

Anyways, what are the requirements for getting in this class? I am not an MP, SF, or other high speed guy, just a UAV instructor but more training never herts.

Re: Ft. Huachuca to allow LEO's in free classes

Hi, if you are A D or Reserve with orders just call MWR and register.
Are u working with Gypsy, Bo, Fred, or Charlie?
Last month I had a 19D, two JAG NCO's, a Navy Expiditionary Warfare Specialist.
Do it soon as the class is almost full. However if Captain Markam the CO of WTU will assist we can add more.

Re: Ft. Huachuca to allow LEO's in free classes

I will check it out.

I have no clue who gypsy, Bo, Fred, or Charlie are.

Thanks for the info

Not sure when the Home Depot got there, but I was there in '89, all I remember was a Del Taco, a Motel 6, and that was really about it.
