About time the lame state of North Carolina got rid of the pistol permit requirement.

Fuck Roy Cooper!

Great, now I’ve got a pile of wasted money in my possession.

Yeah, I remember having to go through that archaic bullshit when I lived in NC. Had to list 3 character witnesses and some other unnecessary bullshit on an application. Then waste half a day sitting at the Sheriff's office to get approved. I thought I was in some northeast shithole like NY or NJ, not a once solidly conservative state like NC. Why people in the South especially vote for these Democrat scumbags is beyond me.

Transplants from Jersey, NY, VA, and Maryland. My county here is blue because of them and I don’t even live anywhere near the cities.
Oh I know. I remember seeing those license plates from those states and thinking they are a fucking plague anywhere they go. Those and California tags are something you don't want to see if you value freedom.

That's a great win. A CCW, which everyone should have, bypassed it many years ago.

Sheriff’s department is gonna be pissed. They love monetizing the 2nd amendment. At least they still can charge $100 for the CCW application.

Fuck them and their 30-06 rifles and bird hunting shotguns too. They imho are worse than anti-gun liberals. At least libs don't pretend to care about the 2nd Amendment and gun rights.
C'mon man,nothing wrong with a 30-06 rifle:rolleyes::ROFLMAO:

I gotta ask….mostly because I’m too lazy to research it myself:

Was the pistol purchase permit deal something that Liberal D’s got installed recently? Or was this something that “good” Southern D’s passed 100 years ago to keep black folks from buying pistols and then NC could never get rid of it?

Just curious…….

Good southern D’s.

Kept in place so long because it provides revenue for the state.

No.... started long before that.

Anywhere IBM set up shop, they imported Libs by the thousands.

Watsons were Roosevelt Socialisrs and became billionaires under the New Deal. For decades, IBM didn't allow drinking, blue shirts or Republicans!

They utterly Lib-tarded every single place they set up a plant.

I’m talking about my county in NC specifically. 13k people. Main town is only ~4k. I can assure you IBM is not here. Durham maybe, but transplants ARE the issue in my county. It’s a historic town near the border of VA on the inner banks. It’s become a retirement town for folks up north, because of how nice and quiet it is. Well, until you look up the violent crime statistics and realize we are over double the rate per capita of the US average. Mostly on the north side of town, which you can probably guess the demographics. Again, for a town of roughly 4,000 people.

Right.... Understood.

But I bet NC is controlled by two or three blue dots. Say... RTP and Charlotte. IBM Towns. Add in Asheville, which is where they all retired (was just there c. 2000 for the first time in decades... what a lefty fruit-filled hellhole that's become!)

And it was the 1960's when IBM came in and started importing liberals. NC was all Democrat then. But they were conservative Southern Democrats. IBM brought in the lefty fruitbat ones. Then, as the anchor, they brought in more support companies more companies staffed with New York and Californie Lefties... and suddenly you lose your state.

After that... they take the legislatures... elect the governors... set the tone for destroying everything.

Cheers,

Sirhr

you sir, are most correct. it was born here, left for a few years of military service and returned. left again and then came back a few ago and i am leaving this fucker for good in 2 years. not exactly sure where i’ll end up, but it’s gotta be better some where else. i hope

Yes Fuck Roy Cooper the smug liberal bastard......and Durham and Charlotte and Chapel Hill and Asheville and all of wake county. None are North Carolina and if the outlanders keep moving here I am SD, Wyoming or North Texas bound. They are ruining this once great state. The major landowners in NC are 100% red blooded patriotic American conservatives, but when you put 250 yankee liberal voters on 50 acres it kills the vote

Can somebody explain this to me. Apparently you still need carry permits.

What were the other kinds of permits they eliminated?

Unless it changed… when I lived there you needed a “permit”’to buy a handgun. Each “permit” was sort of a ticket. You “handed it over”’when you bought the gun. To get a permit, you had to go to sheriff or LE office and pass a background check. For a fee. You could get three (IIRC) permits at a time. Then had to re apply for three more.

Was a giant tax. A giant PITA because each time you had to have three character witnesses sign off for you. And they were 10-20 or so each. Which was real money in the ‘80’s. And some sheriff’s were fine about issuing. Some, like WakenCounty and Durham were massive PITA and obfuscated all the time. “Sorry, you used blue ink… we only accept black. Oops, you forgot the period after that abbreviation…”’and shit like that to deny application for purchase permit.

That was just to purchase. Not carry.

I don’t remember what the carry laws were. I carried all the time but never had a permit for that. Maybe one was needed, but I never got one.

My memory may be foggy after almost 40 years. Or it may have changed. But that’s what I remember late ‘80s into early 90’s when I left for Texas.

If you want to carry concealed, you will need a CCW permit for that. Take a 1 day course, show the instructor you can hit the broad side of a barn, get a cert, turn cert in to SO, pay $90, wait for permit to come in. It's good for 5 years. I just did another renewal and it's been the longest wait I've had so far.

The big advantage to the CCW was it allowed you to skip getting a pistol permit to buy a pistol, assuming you bought a lot. Now there is no advantage...

And yes, all the above is BS.

You are correct sir. I just moved back here last May after a 10+ year hiatus and the permit to purchase was still in effect. MN was essentially the same way. $100 application fee for the sheriff's office, but not character witness there. Just the "tax" to purchase. Their's lasted a year and you could purchase multiple handguns under the same P2P. So basically, MN (a solid blue state) was more gun friendly than NC.

Not sure if it was the same when you were here, but the CCW is a pain in the ass here as well. They even have you sign an authorization to open up your medical (mental health) history for review before stamping your permit.

North Carolina is so fucking stupid. I lol whenever some fudd recommends the state as a good state to live in.

I will say that the state has really good revenue collectors. They never miss a chance to get a dollar.

Agreed. I'm over near OBX and it's insane how much it's changed even in the last 10 years. I see more VA plates than NC around here during the summer. Of course no shortage of Maryland and Jersey plates either. Then they end up inevitably staying. As bad as it's gotten around here, it's getting worse each year.

Jesus, I had no idea NC had gone so far left on guns….
BFC must have some NC beach sand left in his vagina that is turning into a pearl. Other than the CCW requirement, we can have anything you want. I've been to a few states out west and most around NC, never seen a reason to move.

I am not sure about that, my grandfather was pretty far from a lib. After he died I was going through his stuff and I found a ?diploma? ?certificate? from where he got training from IBM from 1932 IIRC. He did live back east so kinda lined up. I never knew he worked there. Wish I had, I would have loved to ask him about it.

That far back, IBM was a different animal. Shortly after this, 10-11 years or so, they were making m1 carbines for the war effort.

The 50s and 60s saw a lot of drastic changes come to companies.
