Full length sizing without expander ball/decapping pin

I am attempting to use my FL sizing die to bump the shoulder back on my brass without working the neck. I would neck size later with a collet die. Can this be accomplished by removing the entire die stem? What effect can i expect by running my brass through my FL resizer without the die stem?

With a FL sizing die, you're going to have a hard time bumping your shoulders back without affecting the necks. Depending on how your neck die is sized, you might just be reworking your brass a bit much.

Get a Redding body die, or a FL bushing sizing die sans bushing, if you want to bump shoulders back without touching the necks.

Buy a Widden Die set, it comes with the ability to depac w/wo expander along with a gauge for shoulder "bump", his seaters are really good also. You'll need a case gauge (L.E. Wilson is what I use) for your initial sizing, for both safety and a base line. One firing does not fully fire form a piece of brass, if you don't believe this, fire one, measure, neck size only and fire again, measure, and then again. Some brass may require you to fire 3 times to get to chamber spec. If you really want to "bump" your shoulders you'll need to know the size of the chamber. And Yes you can run your brass through a FL sizer die without the stem.

The answer is NO, not with a standard FL sizing die.

Removing the expander ball from a standard FL sizing die only addresses part of the 'neck sizing' equation.

Your FL die can certainly be used without the stem in it. It will not accomplish what you are wanting to do. The FL die undersizes the neck so that the expander ball will bring the ID back up to the desired diameter. I doubt seriously that you could get the mandrell of your collet die into the undersized neck of the case. As mentioned by others above you'll need a shoulder-bump die, body die or some other device to size the case and bump the shoulder without working the neck.
