Got the itch for another pistol, thinking of a 17, since I own a 19 and 19x. Love the X. Shares holsters with my CC 19, shoots well. M
From a performance stand point, does the small amount of barrel length on the 17 make any difference?

I was eyeing the 17Mos or the G45mos

    No 17 for me.

now the new problem. I’m going to pick up a g48 tomorrow to carry. It’s more comfortable to me, than my 19, but I have a 19x already and kind of want the g45 also....

do I keep the 19 for the tool/workhorse that it is, or sell it to fund the g45 hmmmmm

Performance difference, negligible. Some may benefit from the small increase in sight radius, some others will not.
The Glocks are SD/Competition guns, not bullseye pistols.

    I have every 9mm glock model...(I think)
I would skip the 17. That being said before the 19x existed I had a 17 grip cut to 19... thats a fun toy.
It all depends on what you want. Go shoot one and find out.

    Get the G34

For a while I was on a quest to own every double stack 9mm. I had multiples of 26, 19, 17, 34. I almost picked up a 17L just to complete the set.
This was before the x came out.

I found that the 19 and 34 were really the only ones I used on a regular basis. The 26 was small enough to carry, but wide and harder to conceal. I tried the 43, but meh. I carry at P365 now.

The 17 hardly ever got used at the range... because the 34 is so much more fun to shoot.

Went Saturday to the glock dealer and picked up a 45 and 48, both with ameriglo sights. Now I have zero use for my 19 lol. It’s going to the chopping block!

I love the 19x and 45, and the 48 is more comfortable to me than the 19. I just can’t get a comfortable grip on the 19 for some reason. Even with an undercut. The X and 45 feel great. The 48 feels great. The 19 feels cramped.

I guess Im the opposite... I have to carry a 17 for work, but carry a 19 off duty... I would much rather just rock the 19 off duty and the 34 on duty. The 17 is arguably my least favorite of the bunch.

You’re a LEO? Most departments around here either switched to the g45 and the others carry G22 or whatever the full size 40 is. One of the 40 departments even switched to FMJ ammo..... that’s what a friend that works there was telling me.
Is it common for cops to be packing ball ammo?

    Quit that agency immediately!

if they are making decisions that poor on small things, I can only imagine they are “knocking it out of the park” elsewhere

Agree with the "no" answers here. The 17 will be functionally obsolete once the G47 (parts commonality with 19/45/19x) gets released to the commercial market. It's a 17 length slide that fits on a 19 length frame (similar to how the 34 slide works on a 17 length frame).

    If you're itching for a new Glock, I think that it's worth picking up a 34 over a 17.

Yep... We originally had the 22s, and then just recently swapped over to the 17. Ive got no experience on the G45. No clue why anyone is still running 40, and certainly no clue why anyone would be running FMJs in a duty context. Fwiw I definitely prefer the G17, but my 22 was also probably 15 years old and a total piece of crap.
