Hello

I just took delivery of a very nice 6.5 CM GAP rifle with a Tempest action that I found here on the hide. I'm finding that the Magpul mag supplied works fine however, my AI magazines slide right back out and will only seat in place with the bolt open which will then not close open with an AI mag in the rifle. Any ideas or suggestions to remedy this, that can't be a common issue!?

When you say AI mag, that is either AICS pattern or AW pattern. Which are you using?
These: in 5 and 10 rd. I think it’s the feed lips?

Its an aics mag. What stock and bottom metal?

Stick it in and look where it blocks the bolt.

Also, with the bolt out and the mag in, look down the action and see if you can see where the bolt would be physically obstructed from moving down its space in the action by the mag.

Greyboe Ridgeback and Greyboe bottom metal. The mark closed to the top of the magazine is where the mag stops with the bolt closed. The bottom line is where the magazine seats with the bolt open. The space between is 1/8th of an inch.

And that relates to its position in the action how?
How do I describe where its position the bolt. It seemed easier to measure the space. Attached is a photo of where the bolt begins to bind with the magazine seated.

Tune your magazine feed lips. Your bolt lug/feedlip interference.

Do you have a recommended process for ding that?
The easy solution is to use magpul mags, theyre cheap. Otherwise you need to lower the magazine by either removing material from the magazine catch(on the bottom metal, not magazine), or moving the bottom metal away from the receiver(more involved). If the bottom metal is correctly flush with the bottom of the stock, leave it alone. Use one of the first two options.

In your specific case, the left side, front feed lip looks bent in too far like it has been dropped on that corner. You can take a straight edge and see if that front portion curves inwards and by how much.

Take a mag feed lip tool and bend outward slightly (straighten) to get some clearance between the lips and the lug. Then adjust feed lip gap to have the rounds positioned properly for optimal feeding.
