I just bought a Galil Sporter IMI Israel from the estate of a friend. He tried to lighten the trigger and made the rifle unsafe to fire. Sometimes it will double tap, sometimes it will fire when the trigger is pulled and then fire again when the trigger released.

The question I have is, will a 922R compliant semi-auto AK trigger fit in this rifle? Is there any other trigger option available? I have never owned an AK based rifle before and just want to make sure I get the correct parts to fix it.

Nice rifle, I always wanted one when I was younger. Still wouldn't mind one. Glad you found your parts. I bet that's one heavy bitch, I understand that's why they replaced it. If I owned an AK, it'd have to be one of those.

Does yours have the no-shit bottle opener built into the handguard? I'm not kidding, they did this so soldiers on guard duty could keep one hand on the rifle and open a bottle with the other. Only in Israel. With all the shit and rails today, you'd think there'd be a Larue rail mount 'Dillo for AR's!

It's not terribly heavy, especially with the Trilux removed. The 35 and 50 round mags add a lot of weight to the rifle even when empty because they are steel. Yes it does have the bottle opener bipod hanger which is a great accessory because I don't drink cheap beer with twist off caps. I did find a number of companies that make replacement handguards with rails and built in lights, but I like the wood handguard better.
