Seems to be a good load, now just go stretch it out and see how she does...</span>

    That load looks strangely familiar...
Nice work Scott. That load has served me well out to 2018 yards.

    Beautiful rifle...

How/Why did you decide on Hornady 285s over the other popular bullets ?

Have you experimented with Retumbo and tossed that idea ?

Those chrono numbers make me beyond jealous. What's the secret ? I'm simply amazed!

First off that rifle is gorgeous! Second she's a hammer, great shooting. What a great rig I'm so jealous. Can't wait to hear some ELR range reports with her.

thanks, choose the 285 because I had some to test and couldn't get the 300 OTM's. When I heard about the testing Frank and Cory had done on them, http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3235869#Post3235869 I had got some from a friend to try.

Have tested the 250 Scenars too with great results. Everywhere I looked, the OTM's where out or backordered or will not ship for another month.

have H1000 and Retumbo, was testing H1000 first... Think I will stick with it. Not broke, don't fix it kinda load

guess just the right load, seating depth, bullet combo to get those numbers. Started with a recommended length and then went long and short of it and the 3.743" was the winner.

Very nice build! Gotta love those Surgeon XL actions too, I'm envious.
I might try some of those 285's in mine, I'm not sure if my 300 Bergers are stabilized at 1200+ need to shoot some paper and find out.

    Re: GAP 338LM and 285 Hornady's

Rocky Mountain in Riverton has several boxes of 300 Bergers, let me know and I can make arrangements for you to get some.

    What G1 or G7 you using on 285 ?

will run it out and see what I come up with, just curious what you got.</div></div>

I use the G7 and it was on out to 1760 and then after that it started to drift about 1-1.5 MOA but enough to get a guy real close. Also Rocky Mountain in Gillette had about 6-8 boxes if the berger 300 grain OTMs as well if you want some. I would just stick with 285s...

I think you will find the 285's are the popular bullet. I'm getting similar speed with the same H1000 powder charge out of a 338 edge and we have found the 285's to be the most precise bullet out past 1500 yards.

I've also been very happy with the Hornady's 285 bthp. Just as good as a Berger 300 imo. I've used 300 & 250 SMK, Berger 300 & 250 and of course the Hornady 285.
I rank them in this order:
    1. Horn 285
    2. Berg 300 (very close to 1rst)
    3. Berg 250
    4. Sierra300 (very close to 3rd)
    5. Sierra250 (won't buy again)

285's at 1970 yards. 2 hits outta five shots. 17 mph wind, 80.25 MOA elevation and held 20 MOA for wind on left side of target.

Nice work Scott. Glad to see you got the 285s stretched out. Is that the 92.5 grain load you tested before?
