Well hell boys, the day started off like any other until my FFL gave me a call and told me my GAP had finally arrived. With youth-like excitement, I left work early, and went right over to my FFL to pick up my rifle. As I walked in he pointed to my rifle on the rack and I just smiled. After all this was my very first high-end, fully custom rifle. As I was looking over the rifle I was dismayed to see the stock was a Bell and Carlson and not the MCM Hunters Edge that I'd requested. I immediately pulled out my smartphone, looked up the build specs from August, and sure enough, the build sheet showed an upgraded stock. I checked the invoice, and sure enough I paid for an MCM stock, so it must've been a mistake. I also noticed that the invoice in the box is a different amount then the build sheet price by $125(after calculating shipping), so if its not one thing, its something else.

Now I know GAP will take care of this and I know its all good, so no bashing in my thread please. A single phone call in the morning will make it 100%, but darn it, sometimes a guy just needs to vent some frustration after having his hopes up. And now unfortunately the wait begins again.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

Thats just part of doing business sometimes, no matter how good you are we are all human. What matters is that you made a good decision to buy a GAP and it will be an easy fix. No worries.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

Not sure why you are crying to the internets about it. Why dont you be a big boy and call GAP and let them take care of the mistake. Not sure what you were trying to accomplish by doing this.

Crying??? Whose crying? Merely pointing out that my wait continues. Take a pill, drink a beer, and calm down. No need to talk shit.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

On a lighter note I ordered a BBQ beef sandwich for dinner tonight and was later told they were completely out so I had to settle for a Philly Steak, so I can relate just a little bit. At least you don't have to settle Cactus, you know GAP will make it right. I own one of their rifles and they are awesome. Good things come to those who wait.

What would this place be without the solid contributions of members like nexusfire.

I had a similar situation with my first high end rifle waited, and waited, and finally received a slightly damaged rifle. Like yourself, I bought from a reputable builder, and was compensated promptly. I am sure you will have a similar experience. Best of luck!

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

Sounds almost like the same rifle I have on order with GAP (Non-Typical) but mine is left handed. It happens as others have said and GAP is an awesome company so it will be taken care of. I have three rifles from them and they all are distinct in their own way. I now it sucks to wait but the one thing I have learned with custom rifles and suppressors is patience is a must.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

That sucks man but like others have said I'm sure GAP will take care of you.
I just recieved my first GAP this last weekend, I too had a slight hickup or two along the way but all is well.
Luckly for me I bought a rifle that was already built, one of Georges personal rifles, so I didn't have the long wait but I did have them thread the muzzle and add a break to it.
I'll try and get some picks in the next day or two and post them up.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

Talked to george a few minutes ago. He of course took care of it all. Ill update this post from home on the particulars.

Ill just say one thing now, my 338 build I'm putting money away for will without a doubt be a GAP build. The GAP crews customer service is outstanding!!!

Thanks for everything george!

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

He's already taken care of, He changed the stock a couple weeks after placing the order. We screwed up and didnt get the changes made in the shop on the work order. He gets to keep the rifle and shoot it till his MC Edge arrives, Shit happens, we screwed up but were fixing it!!!!!

I wish all gunsmiths took care of their customers as well as GAP has here. Hats off.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

I received a GAP a few months ago. I took it to the range and it did factory rifle groups. A quick call to GAP and a short conversation with one of the crew put me at ease. I was told George was out of the country until Monday, but he would call me when he got back. Monday morning before 9am my time, I had a VERY CONCERNED AND COURTEOUS call from George.

As it turned out, it was a booboo on my part.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

I"m finally home and after reading George's response I wanted to provide additional information for everyone out there. As indicated earlier, I talked to George and after he assured me this would be taken care of he told me I had options. I could send the entire rifle back and he'd build me another from scratch or I could keep the rifle I had, use it as I saw fit, and once my new stock (MCM hunters edge) came in, he'd put the new stock on for free. And when I say free, I mean free. George said the cost of the stock and installation was on him once he had an MCM stock on hand.

To say I was shocked was an understatement. I really expected to have to ship the rifle back and wait another 5 plus months for a complete gun. So when I was told to keep the rifle I had, use it, shoot it, and hunt hard with it, i was taken back. After the converstation was over, I started thinking just how rare that level of customer service is nowadays. Not only is GAP taking care of the problem, but they wanted to make sure I had a rifle while it was in the works.

I know George didnt specify all of this in his post but I felt it was important to let everyone know that GAP has went above and beyond on this deal.

So once again, GAP comes through and I am over joyed to have had such a positive experience in all of this.

Again, thank you George for all you have done to rectify this situation, you are truly a cut above.

A big +1 to that. In an industry that is filled with customers opening their wallets to have a gun built, you would think this level of customer service is common. It is anything but common!!! I imagine GAP will even pay to ship the rifle back to them when the time comes. Glad to see they are taking care of it and I hope other smiths take note of the service.

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

I own two GAPs. This thread provided no value at all +/-.

I think if this happened to to me, my first step would be to call GAP, not post up here. Some members like to make a story out of their experiences. That's their prerogative. I knew how this one would end

Re: GAP rifle - Here today, back to GAP tomorrow

I understand your frustration. I bought the AX Chassis, and NF 5x22x50 scope over the phone and emailed the company 10 minutes later to confirm both items of what I wanted. Well, when my scope arrived I got the 56mm scope. They had sold their last 50mm scope, and I was SOL....... So I thought. Well, after contacting the company and explained what happened, they admitted they overlooked the 56mm scope, and was not sure why they shipped it even though they admitted they got my email... As a "hey, we f*cked up, and are sorry" I was given 2 options. Mail the scope back on their dime and wait 2 weeks for the 50mm scope to arrive OR, suck it up with the 56mm scope, and receive a pair of NF scope rings for FREE!! Yea, $165.00 NF RINGS FOR FREE!!!! So how could I refuse? I didnt bash the company on the Hide, and had NO intentions on doing so. We all make mistakes. They made a mistake and took care, well, really good care of the customer.
