Tried listening to Garth a couple of times and just never understood the appeal. He lead country down the path to pop and it all went to shit. Its all formula now and sounds the same with metrosexual cowboy hat wearing soy boys. No self respecting cowboy/westerner would ever let one of those hats get close to them. We have two main country stations in upstate SC. 92.5 is the Garth Brooks all the time station and 100.5 is the Blake Shelton all the time station. And I mean ALL THE TIME. Gone are the days of country music you can relate to and help you through a hard time or make a good time better. Heck, I will take Ray Stevens all day every day over those two.
