Good day all. Im trying to move up into a new bigger lathe, and want to see if anyone is interested in my current machine before I throw it somewhere else online.
Its been a great starter lathe for me, does everything Ive needed it to do, I just never expected to be doing as much stuff as I do now and want to get a bigger heavier lathe.
The lathe is a JET GHB-1340. I installed the DRO on it, Ive tested its accuracy with indicators and it reads very true, I cant even imaging going back to doing this stuff without one, such a convenience for threading and what not. Im still using the lathe to this day, so needless to say it functions perfectly, nothing wrong with it. I just replaced the half nuts a few weeks ago to tighten that up a little bit, so those are good to go for quite awhile.
I made quite a few fixtures for it that I will include since they are D1-4 specific, and the new lathe is D1-6 I think.
- Action/bolt truing fixture, setup for short and long actions. The fixture is welded directly to a D1-4 plate to keep it nice and close to the bearings and little bit more rigid than the normal setup of holding it in a 4jaw.
- Indicating fixture for shorter barrels, same deal, welded directly to a D1-4 plate with 4 copper headed jack screws.
-Outboard spider with brass tipped screws
-The rail holding the holders stays with it also.
I am also including the BXA quick change tool post and all the HOLDERS (no cutting tools included), you can see everything in the picture, if you want to know the numbers and styles of each holder I can take inventory. No measuring tools pictured are included, nor are any magnetic bases.
Obviously comes with 3jaw, 4jaw, live center, dead center, steady rest, follow rest, face plate, and a collet closer (5c I think, never used it).
These lathes retail new for around $5900 I think, plus all the tooling, DRO, and fixtures probably take that up another $1000-1500 or so for a grand total of $6200 call it new.
Ive seen a few go used on Ebay without DRO for $4500 or so. Id like to try to get $4750 out of it.
Im located just outside of Toledo, OH. My neighbor has a forklift so can pop it right on a trailer or in the bed of a truck even. I do have to get my new lathe before I can let this one go out the door, but want to have this one "sold" before I pull the trigger on the new one, so timing will have to be just right. I can deal with one or two weeks of downtime, so if you need it ASAP I can get the new one on the way at least.
Thanks for looking, email me at [email protected] with any questions
