I was at Baylands Raceway one year when the Chevy Nationals was happening. I hate Chevys (strictly MOPAR for me) and only went because the best man at my wedding wanted to go. The 69 Corvette that was eating everyone alive on the track was just a beater looking car. We went to go look at it in the pits and I almost died laughing when the guy popped the hood. It had a MOPAR 440 in it. It has been 30 plus years since that happened and I remind my buddy about that every time we get together to do car stuff. We were at the Turlock swap meet earlier this year and every time I saw a MOPAR big block I would say "Hey look a Corvette engine".
BTW: Have you guys broken down and started discussing 1500hp-2000hp boat engines yet? How about 1000 cubic inch street engines making 2000hp? One of those engines will cost 2.5 times what a 2017 Corvette GS sells for though.

My last corvette was 85 totally stock and flat out on the highway coming home from clubbing 155mph . I was feeling good but then it sank in looking at the speedometer that rag top isn't going to offer much protection for my skull if the SHTF .....I own a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport. It's been dyno'd at 515HP at the rear wheels after some mods and a tune.
These are NOT kids cars, the power is utterly amazing. I've had it up to 175 on an airport runway, with throttle still left.
