Hey guys I am new to the site I did a search but couldnt find what I was looking first. A guy in my Dept sold me his basically new Remington 700 VTR in .308 I have been looking at the viperskin stock and was wondering what I need to use that stock they are pretty fair priced at $220. So basically what do I need to convert my rifle to that style stock I wasnt sure with the triangular style barrel, is this something I can do myself or a job for a Gunsmith? Thanks guys

Your going to need to buy the accuracy international chassis system to use the viper skins so it's going to be an investment of about 900 for the chassis setup an 220 for the viper skins. Stocks bolt to the action so your triangular shaped barrel will fit in any stock that is cut for a Remington varmint contour or a m24 contour. I used the acid for a while but ended up w a manners t4 with a mini chassis which runs about 850. Hope this helps

Re: Getting a stock for me Rem 700 VTR

Any stock inletted for a heavy varmint contour or larger will accomodate the triangular barrel of the VTR.

However, if you're new to this whole thing (which is fine, i'm just assuming due to the Viperskins comment), then i'd suggest practice (and therefore ammo) and a good scope instead a new stock. However if you are well practiced at shooting then go nuts.

B&C do some great stocks around the price range you're looking at with the Viperskins.

Like a-bishop said you will an AICS to run the viper skins. Depending on what the rifle will be used for can determine which stock will work best for you. If it will be packed for miles along with other gear the AICS get heavy and you might want to go with a lighter Manners. IF its mainly a range toy or you will have transport the AICS will be perfect.

New to swapping any type of stock and thing slike that.. as for the gun its my 308 and I have a Viper PST Scope on it nice setup I just want a nicer stock thats all and was wondering what I needed to accomodate the VTR barrel. As for the gun its just my range toy so I just want something that comfy but also badass..

Take a look at stockys for B&C, HS precision, Manners composites, and some laminate stocks to get a better idea what's available. Also check the stuff for sale here on Snipers Hide.

LOS338,
The VTR barrel is just the standard Remington Varmint barrel contour with three large flats cut on it instead of the six flutes of some of the other models. Any stock for a varmint barrel contour will fit fine.
