Gunsmithing Getting more life out of a barrel

So I just bought a defiance action and 24” mtu rock creek 6 dasher barrel. Barrel has 3400 rounds on it. My question is can I have 2” cut off and re-chambered to dasher again and still have a match barrel or do I just rechamber it to something else for a hunting round and have a new dasher barrel for matches. This is going to be my first build and this rifle will have to serve double duty as a match and hunting rifle.

With that many rounds, just rebarrel it. Cutting 2” off would certainly squeak sime more life out of it, but not worth the cost of the chamber job.

You might get 200-300 more rounds out of it, but that high a round count maybe not. Damage is likely 6-10" up the bore.

You have to consider what the 3400 rounds cost you to wear out the barrel. I suspect it was much more than the barrel cost. Get a new barrel.

I would definitely get a new barrel . That impressive 3400 rnds got to love to rock creek barrels !!!
