Many incorrectly presume common striker fired pistols are single action only fire control mechanisms. The Glocks, M&P's and others are double-action-only striker mechanisms.....pulling the trigger completes the striker spring compression and sear release simultaneously as the striker safety plunger is displaced allowing the striker tip to advance towards the cartridge primer surface.
