Picked up a used Glock 45. Supposedly low round count but got it today and wanted quick input. I’ve only had gen 4 glocks so I don’t have anything to compare it to.

Is this bent out of whack? I definitely have to can’t the slide when putting it back together. Not sure if it’s just a gen 5 thing but seems a bit odd to me C35CEDEA-CC51-4B1B-97BF-911AC80E5CD2.jpeg

EDIT: checked out to be consistent with other gen 5 g45’s.

Instead of a new thread, I’ll ask for pics of sights co witness with a rmr. Need to decide on those next as I have the rmr ready to go

Updated title for iron sights through rmr suggestions

Same here, 45 non cut.

Instead of making a new thread I’ll ask for anyone running an rmr to post up a pic of the sights co witness with the red dot. Need to decide what sights to run, and have the RMR ready to go

Try making sure the striker is released and then try putting the slide on. Gen 5 is the only one I have to do this with. In reference to the co-witness deal. My suppressor sights are independent of my red dot. I sighted in my red dot for 25 yards. GTG! Hope this helps. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but this is how I run my rig. If my red dot goes out then I go to the suppressor sights.

I had to make the dot pretty bright to take the picture. The front sight is not that tall when aligned with the rear sight. Also, the position of the dot is a fallacy. I happened to take a picture of the dot looking like it was "co-witnessed." That said, the dot would have looked to the left, right, up, down if I moved the camera around. Hope that make sense. That is why I don't understand the "co-witness" thing. Last, I want to use this as my duty weapon, but I am not proficient with it enough. It take some time and practice. A lot of people use it and just quit using it. I have to practice presenting it so the dot is present each time (under stress as well). I am not there yet. So, I believe these would make good duty weapons and CC/daily carry. Again, there is a pretty good learning curve. With my 48 year old eyes, I do like the red dot. Hope this helps. -Al

Oh.... this is pretty important. I have seen several people use the wrong screws when mounting the RMR to a MOS. The RMR will not sit flat on the Glock MOS if the screws are too long. Soooo messed-up! Last, the screws are tiny. I have little torque on mine. the screws came with a drop of thread locker on it.

Glockmeister sels a kit with the correct screws and sealing plate for the Trijicon RMR, $17 or just the screws for $3.

I’m a red dot guy, but not on pistols. I have a FNX Tactical 45 with the Trijicon RMR07 and a Glock 40 (long 10mm) with a Burris FF3. Personally I think Glock’s MOS system places the optic far too high and standard suppressor height sights don’t cowitness (as shown in Cuban Croc’s picture, the body of the optic blocks the front sight), the Suarez sights on the G40 that do properly cowitness are huge compared to regular suppressor height. I’d rather buy the standard Glock and send out the slide to be machined for a specific red dot so it sits lower. Of the red dots, the best one I’ve found is the Leupold Delta Point Pro, the window is clearer than the green tinted Trijicon, but it doesn’t fit the FNX without modification. Here is a link to the MOS sights I used.

Thanks for the pic and info. I have a regular slide that I’m gonna have machined and I picked up a used trijicon rmr. Just need to decide which sights are best. I guess I don’t mean to actually co witness and explained it poorly.

Looking for the sights that will obstruct the least amount of window red dot view while still being able to be used as a back up sight

When practical I prefer the layout of the Rogers Shooting School Red Dot setup which offers several finesse advantages over alternative setups. The most notable is placing the rear iron sight in front of the optic. These are co-witnessed in the center of the window.
This allows for

the rear sight being the first line of impact defense, deflecting debris and burnt power residue from hitting or coating the optic

During one-handed clearing exercises, you are putting pressure against the iron sight and not your expensive optic

With the optic all the way rearward it allows for a clearer, larger field of view

The red dot and rear iron sight act as a single unit instead of two separate ones that the eyes have to align

Some G17 setups. Light setup with Surefire fitted with DevGroup grip switch allowing for one handed shooting / activation of light.
Can use either open top ALS or their completeiy enclosed holster system.

Do any of you use a RDS in a tough or dirty environment? I’m talking about a desert type environment w/ blowing sand, dirt, veg or plant matter?

The reason I ask is that I’m considering using a RDS in the future but I’m concerned w/ the optic becoming a dirt collector. By that I mean as I’m going about my day (all day outside), will I get dirt & debris covering up my RDS / lens? Iron sights have treated me well over the years so I’m wondering if the RDS is worth buying.

Cuban Croc's are not co-witness. Can't properly align those sights with the optic on there. So you go w higher sites, then you got a holster problem. Good news - t.rex has addressed this with their products.

i put together one of these setups to see what they are all about for myself. i will admit i dont have near thetime behind them as others. but my time with them lead me back around to where i started. the most durable and reliable sidearm for backup (for me personally) would be irons (iluminated) only. obviously comes down to preference but for me focusing on front pistol sight in pressured situation is enough to focus on. if i wasyounger and started just on an electronic sight i may feel differently. but i prefer to keep things simple.

I’m interested in the possibility of using a RDS on my pistol. I don’t want to waste money on something that will ultimately be a dirt collector; I really don’t want to draw the pistol to acquire a target only to have my dot covered by dirt & rendering it useless. Irons have worked really well over the years.

Like others, I’ve shot pistols w/ RDS & they work well. I don’t have assloads if reps w/ them either. The little that I have shot w/ them shows a lot of promise & bears exploring. So, I’m “RDS curious.” LOL.

Yea I want the iron sights to be able to still be used if there is an optic failure, and to have them take up as little room as possible as well. I’ve seen guys seem to like the trijicon iron supressor height sights

I recently had a good pistol training class and on the last day a friend of the instructor joined in and shot some. He was shooting a Glock with an rmr on it from appendix Carry iwb. It was new to him and he claimed (which the instructor also supported) that he isn’t a pistol shooter.

Point is he was FAST with that rmr. We were doing multi target steel drill. He was fucking blazing fast. I know this is a one person sample size lol but it was impressive.

I had the stomach flu over the weekend so got to do some youtube catch up. Clint Smith and Jeff Cooper/Louis Awerbuck videos (current for Clint and vintage for Jeff) were on the list.

Clearly most of us have grown past custom 1911s in 45, but I totally get why they do/did like them so much. Materials and format aside, even your cheapest Croat/Turkish polymer pistol nowadays has all the features they customized into a USGI format gun to make it acceptable/usable for CCW, and said pistol costs about as much as you'd pay for just the stippling these guys recommend.

I don't want to say that I suffer from Smith/Cooper syndrome when it comes to not being super high on dot sights for defensive pistol, but I do agree with bhanley that I'm in no hurry to go this route. I too put together one to "see what it is all about", (Gen 5 G34 w Burris FF2), train and complete with it, and will continue to do so, alongside my iron-sighted favorites with steel sights in similar but varying configurations (Gen 3 G19, Gen 3 G34, G19X bone stock), for these reasons:

- Sights only apply to a percentage of defensive situations; one must train for multiple scenarios where the sights are secondary at best or not seen at all
- Current optics obscure the target, plain and simple, from their shape, placement, and shading/coloring of the target image
- course sight alignment refined to better sight alignment is much easier with irons; you can be somewhat on your sights with irons and see from and rear and their relationship, whereas the dot with the same level of misalignment is off in space somewhere. Those of us with true co-witness sights are keenly aware of this; HOWEVER, the point made just above, the optic interferes with your ability to use the irons to improve the sight alignment.

j-moose, I am lucky enough to have a stocking dealer nearby for sights, glock and aftermarket parts, optics, custom glock work, etc. We were able to play with what was on hand and get me truly usable co-witness sights of the correct height difference for the longer 34. Gotta love good retail places, and I throw business their way whenever I can -

I'll try to get a pic up of my setup soon.

my setup i tinkered with.

trijicon suppressor height with rmr. slide cut was done by a shop. not stock mos cut. rmr dot sits on top of front sight. almost cuts into it. tried to capture the sight setup.

its been a while since i shot it (18+ months) but want to say i had it hitting where the dot covered - at least running out about 15-20 yds. is that what your asking? i havent shot it farther to prove that out for longer distances but being a nine its got some zip, relatively speaking.

Nice setup. In reference to my issue with the word "co-witness." My RMR is sighted-in at 25 yards as stated above. When I move my gun to the left, right, up, down....the dot does not line-up perfectly with the iron sights. That said, where I place the dot is where the round goes reqardless whether it is "co-witnessed" or not. For instance, (maybe you can confirm this for me)... If you move your gun to the left, right, up, down....your red dot will not line-up with your iron sights. Can you confirm this for me? Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for the pics guys keep em coming. I’m liking the trijicon sight. Looks good for backup sights Incase the rmr fails

What are you guys seeing for lead times on a slide cut/ nitride finish? I’m local to battlewerx and they quoted 6-8 weeks ??‍♂️
