Good deal??

I found for sale a "as new", but preowned, unfired Remington 700 PSS, 26", .223, with Leupold 30mm rings and a Nikon Monarch Gold 30mm, 2.5x10x56.

The guy is local. The gun sure looks unfired, other than a small amout of debris on the bolt face. No box or paperwork. Other wise looks 99%. Should I take the plunge at $750.00? I already have one in .308.

If you own a PSS .223, or a Nikon Monarch Gold 30mm scope please sound off with your experiences.

go for it if that includes the scope if you don't want it let me k now the location and I will take it off their hands. it a good rifle as is but at that price it is a perfect canidate to rebarrel to 223ai of 300whisher.

That's great price for the whole package. Only draw back with most Remy in 223 is the slower twist rate. therefore, you can't shoot heavy bullet reliably.

Is this a "PSS" or a "5R"?

I'm 99% sure the PSS was never offered with a 24" barrel from the factory. Just throwing that out there to be on the safe side. I've had tons of people claiming "rare factory" configurations that never were.

Typo on the barrel length. It is 26". How do I tell if it is a 1:9 or a 1:12 twist? The barrel date code is AA, so that means 03/2006?

If it is a PSS it should have the 1 in 9 twist

I had the nikon for a while on a hunting rifle and it was a pretty good scope for the money. I ended it up selling it off and upgrading though.

That is a huge 9 shot group. You should try just 5.
