Good going TSA.......

That was nauseating to watch. Moron who has no idea what he is doing or maybe a little power hungry chunk of gangrene?

Of course the TSA has nothing to do with security. While you are standing in line take a moment to survey at all that machinery (conveyer belts, scanners of various types...) what you are actually looking at is someone's yacht, a chalet in Vail, and political contributions to keep this security theatre and its monstrous cash flows going on forever.

As for the clownish troupe of TSA agents... I have had the experience to view the screening they undergo to get the job. For the most part, it is the sort of people who wind up in videos and news bits like the ones below... to date over 500 TSA agents have been arrested.

If they were looking for drugs and explosives, why not just use a dog? Far less invasive and much faster.

Don't get me wrong, the TSA is a horrible gov't department and waste of money. I'm not defending them in any way. Just saying that a dog is more effective.

You are correct. You are also lacking dramatic flair in your solution. And it's a solution to a problem that the TSA does not recognize and cannot be bothered with. They are tending to the far more important task of stage managing an endless run of security theatre that serves as little more than a black metaphor for existence. It is existence on which they justify themselves, for without them we will all be blown to bits at 30,000 feet. At least that's what the playbill says.

Dogs are boringly efficient, and they are often too cute. A TSA agent pulling a passenger aside is more than a little noticeable. Dogs don't build anticipation with the snapping on of blue gloves and making gestures as if engaged in a sort of semaphore known only to TSA agents. But the public fully understands the signals of sacrifice to be made for the sake of passenger safety: at 0:07 of the video the agent begins his gestures that are an evocation of human existence under threat of instant annihilation. An amputee will be molested so that we may live. Show me one fucking dog that can do that.

This is theatre that incessantly promotes itself. It is a theatre of cruelty, to wheelchair bound amputee travellers and to the sensibilities of any decent human being. Once upon a time the cockroach was the insect of the apocalypse. It has been replaced by the TSA agent.

There are powerful explosives that dogs and sensors cannot reasonably detect. No, I will not describe them.
