Sidearms & Scatterguns Got my American Classic II & now need bullets.

Picked up my new .45 ACP today and so far am very pleased with what I see.

Now I need bullets for reloading. Which do you think would be the best choice. 200 gr. Rainier copper plated hollow points or lead bullets?

Any other suggestions?

Well I bought 100 Rainier 200 grain HP bullets to try. I also bought grips to spiff it up a bit.

Bill Wilson said the said the 200 grain SWC loaded 1.250 ahead of 5 grains of bullseye was the perfect round for the 1911.

I use fully jacketed 230gr from Roze Distribution, at $120 shipped it's only a fraction more expensive, but needs no lube to load and is easier to clean up after, no gumming the barrel with lead.
My general plinking load is 4.7gr Bullseye with a COL of 1.234"

I run 200g LSWC over 3.5g of bullseye and my 1911 shoots like a dream. Negligible recoil and very little drop at 100 yards if you ever decide to shoot that far. I get my bullets from Penn Bullets. I got 1500 of them for $130 to my door.

Ignoring the fact that you came in here trying to make a sale. You are telling me you can do $84 shipped per 1k for 230gr moly? Otherwise many reputable moly bullets (Precision coming to mind) cost $108-119.
And for many people, time is money. The extra time of reloading and cleaning makes the FMJ worth it in every way.
