Wooohooo!!!! Took home my first suppressor today. An AAC Evolution .40. She sits on a USP .40 Tactical. Can't wait to get out and try it. I want to say thank you to David (737SHARK) here of Shark Suppressors as he was a HUGE help with everything from getting my trust set up to dealing with all my nagging questions. So I have to give a shout out to him and BOLO for exciting things coming from him! Now porn:

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

nice pistol, i've got the usp tactcial in 9mm w/ gemtech tundra, the only thing that sucks is the assbackwards threads those foreigners use.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Nice set up, now get out and fire it up. Nothing better then shooting suppressed, it's very addictive.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Very nice !!

Welcome to the club. You'll find these are a lot like potato chips . . .
nobody can have just one.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

man, I really need to you move a state that allows them. You guys are so lucky that you have the option of having one !

we're stuck with Mark Dayton as Governor and I highly doubt we can even get rights to defend ourselves (i.e. castle doc)

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

We have a very similar setup! I have the same pistol with an Osprey on the end of mine.

They are a blast to shoot! I am still hunting for the extended mags, they are out there just hard to come across.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

You done it now. Hope you have the funds for the next one, or two, or three...

That Evo 40 is a sweet can, have fun.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Sweet looking rig, I bet that you will have another one or two before too long.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

its amazing how addicting these things are.

i just bought my first 30cal can and already sent off 2 form4's for the 22cal and 9mm can

that is one sweet setup you got there... CONGRATS

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

I am also running a can on a .40 USP. What sights are you using, and how is the sight picture with the can attached?

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

the 9th !!!!!!!!

call maybe it got lost in the mail that would suck.

1 of mine went approved on May 23rd, i'm hoping to have it somewhat soon

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

As everyone said, I had no intention on getting any can, got a .223 can and was happy. Then I shot a .22 and 9mm and crap, I need another $1500 like yesterday.

That Evo does look a little lowly come to think of it.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Thanks gents. Sight picture looks like this, sorry it was the best I could do:

Initially I was surprised when I first screwed on the can. I thought that 'raised suppressor sights' extended above the can. Well in this case they don't. I can see why some people don't bother changing the sights out. As long as the sight picture/sight alignment is there you will still hit what you are aiming at. And yes, while my Evo is lonely right now, I have plans for a Gemtech G5, and then after that I will be contacting David at Shark to see what awesomeness I can buy from him.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Just an update, shot my can indoors the other day at a training class. Wow, first off I had no idea what to expect. I was using Federal Champion 180gr FMJ. Screwed the suppressor on dry and fired a few rounds. Was impressed with the sound reduction but it wasn't as much of a reduction as I had expected. Felt recoil was less 'snappy' and felt slowed down. Recoil felt like it went back more towards the wrists and elbows instead of making the muzzle jump as usual. In other words, less muzzle flip. I don't know if it was me or the can, I'm going to assume the can, but groups were tighter and easier to shoot. I am not a bad shooter but I ain't no pro either. But groups were definitely easier to get. There was no shift in POA/POI at 25yrds and in. So then after firing those rounds and thinking ok I like it, I decided to try it wet. Took my can to the sink ran water through it and shook it out. Screwed it back on and fired. Holy crap. Now I was getting what I was expecting. Super quiet. Only lasted about 10 rounds though. Wire pulling gel is on the shopping list. I love it, I'm pretty sure all my shooting with this pistol will now be suppressed. There is no reason for me to go back to shooting unsuppressed. The can did back off quickly though, every 5-6 rounds I had to re-tighten. I am sure some teflon tape will help here. For those who have used the teflon tape, how many rounds does it last before the can backs off, if at all? Sorry no pics of this as it was a quick session and I was there for a class.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

I have a Tundra and one thing I noticed was that it needed a little crank to not come loose.

When I first attached it I think its just the feeling of damaging the threads.

Wire pulling gel is a must have but can get messy after a while. The 40 is a tough gun to suppress

Congrats and enjoy

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

More kudos for David. It's one stop shopping there at Shark.
About it being addictive......David lives 2 miles from me. It's like going to the candy store. Anyone in DFW area should give him a chance at your business for sure.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Funny thing, I also live about 2 miles away...... sounds like a range day/Shark Demo Day is in order....

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

My shark is in the hands of Sandra Snook. I'm going to send her flowers and see if I can speed things up.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

We need to get these together and have a sound off! My Osprey is a .45, but my USP is a .40

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Sandra Snook is who I had. Exactly 3 months from mail-in date to approved. Yes, a sound-off is a must.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

She has signed all of mine and she is getting slower. Usually 10 weeks like clockwork. I'm on week 14 on the current one. Looking at other posts of people she signs for, looks like I'm due any time.
BigBoss,
I'm between Legacy and hedgecoxe on Custer. Where the he'll are you?
We can meet at David's and have a suppressor and beer party.

You're my hero, my favorite beer too. All we got to do now is invite David to his house for our party.

Re: Got my first suppressor today!

Hmmmm, I'm sure David won't mind......lol Although a suppressor fun shoot would be neat for those of us in the area.

Im for it and im sure we can round up quite a few others in the local area for a can day. Just need a range for the day or 1/2 day to keep the trolls and squirrels out. You have any range connections Bossman? I will ask around.

And the addiction begins. You'll soon realize crack or heroin would be a cheaper habit.
