Re: Got my first suppressor today!
Just an update, shot my can indoors the other day at a training class. Wow, first off I had no idea what to expect. I was using Federal Champion 180gr FMJ. Screwed the suppressor on dry and fired a few rounds. Was impressed with the sound reduction but it wasn't as much of a reduction as I had expected. Felt recoil was less 'snappy' and felt slowed down. Recoil felt like it went back more towards the wrists and elbows instead of making the muzzle jump as usual. In other words, less muzzle flip. I don't know if it was me or the can, I'm going to assume the can, but groups were tighter and easier to shoot. I am not a bad shooter but I ain't no pro either. But groups were definitely easier to get. There was no shift in POA/POI at 25yrds and in. So then after firing those rounds and thinking ok I like it, I decided to try it wet. Took my can to the sink ran water through it and shook it out. Screwed it back on and fired. Holy crap. Now I was getting what I was expecting. Super quiet. Only lasted about 10 rounds though. Wire pulling gel is on the shopping list. I love it, I'm pretty sure all my shooting with this pistol will now be suppressed. There is no reason for me to go back to shooting unsuppressed. The can did back off quickly though, every 5-6 rounds I had to re-tighten. I am sure some teflon tape will help here. For those who have used the teflon tape, how many rounds does it last before the can backs off, if at all? Sorry no pics of this as it was a quick session and I was there for a class.
