Great Reset: Switzerland Threatens to Jail People Who Heat Their Homes Too Much in the Winter!

People who heat their homes above a certain temperature in Switzerland during the Winter face fines and potentially up to three years in prison if energy rationing measures are put in place.

Under proposed legislation in the home of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Swiss lawmakers are preparing to set legal limits on the use of heating during the winter should the country face energy shortages. Under the plans, gas-heated buildings would be capped at 19C (66.2F) and water heating up to 60C (140F). Saunas and swimming pools would also be forced by government diktat to remain cold.

So-called “heating sinners” in Switzerland who heat buildings above the legal limit will face daily fines of 30 francs ($30/£27) to a maximum of 3,000 francs. Fines for companies that deliberately breach the regulations will likely be much higher.

Most worryingly, individuals who are found to have intentionally violated the energy rationing limit could be jailed for up to three years, the Swiss German-language daily newspaper Blick reported.

Minister of Economic Affairs Guy Parmelin attempted to downplay the draconian measures, saying last week: “We are not a police state”.

“The police will not check everyone – but there can be selective checks,” he said, adding: “The draft regulations are primarily based on the fact that the vast majority of the population adheres to laws.”

However, spokesman for the Federal Department of Finance, Markus Spörndli said that the government will be open to tips from neighbours snitching on their fellow citizens “if the offence were reported and controlled and could subsequently be proven.”

Hey, remember the time when we totally got COVID wrong? Yeah. Here's another nutty solution that will totally fix this massive existential problem!https://t.co/OBcWd55NKV

How exactly the government plans to prove such allegations remains a question, given that it is difficult to determine the temperature of the inside of a building from the outside.

Fredy Fässler, the president of the Conference of Cantonal Justice and Police Directors, argued that the government should enact such rules with “a sense of proportion” and that officers should not spend their time going door to door checking thermostats.
Fässler also argued against imposing jail sentences, saying that imposing fines — like during the Chinese coronavirus crisis — will be sufficient and will not clog up the court system with complex criminal proceedings over heating.

The imposition of jail time, or indeed fines, is not a done deal yet, as the 26 individual cantons (states) of Switzerland have until the 22nd of this month to raise objections and counter proposals before the legislation is pushed forward.

The proposed rationing regime comes amid increasing concerns about the prospect of Russia cutting off the taps to Europe, with President Vladimir Putin warning on Wednesday that if the European Union tries to impose a price cap on Russian gas imports, he would cut off all forms of energy to the bloc.

Coming to a town near you soon.

If I was a Swiss cop, I'd say fine. I'd do all my checks and find every citizen in compliance. Unfortunately, they'll eventually realize what was going on and go the California route where they just control your thermostat for you.

66% F, thats fucking obscene. I like mine around 80 in the winter or my body is stiff all the time. If I can afford it tits none of their business.

Have they disarmed the population yet? I didn't recall hearing anything about that, and am pretty sure that guns are still easy enough to purchase and possess.

It seems to me like the Swiss government missed a step.

I'd just barely go to jail. I like it at 68 in the winter.

You must be nearly dead! Stiff as a board!

I started running sweat today at 78, and I'm pretty happy at 65 in the winter.

I also enjoy going out in 0* weather snowmobiling with a jacket and pants because if I add any more layers I get way too hot.

I put a wood stove in my house last year. With the freeze we had in Texas last year and the power outages every where, heck with that, I'm not going to be cold. Now I've usually got enough fire going in the house where we have to open the windows lol.

We were pretty fortunate in that we only went without power for about twenty minutes through that whole mess. I know people who went eight or nine days.

66f? On the inside? In the winter? I started sweating just reading that. The only really good thing about winter is that it cools this fucking barn down to a livable temp. I’m not really happy until I can see my breath.

80f in the winter for your indoor temps?
Wow

That's hotter than I can stand in the summer, wearing next to nothing in the house.

My dog would be like screw that noise.

I'm pretty happy around 66 to 65 indoors for the winter.

I have family in Switzerland, i'll have to ask 'em if this is legit. It doesn't sound like something the Swiss would do though. My aunt who's nearly 80, i'm pretty sure keeps her home well over 70 degrees in the winters there. The winters really don't get that cold there though.

europeans deserve to suffer the consequences on depending on a dictatorship energy supply.

Trump warned them and they laugh and now they can laugh in their cold dark homes.
Deal with a commie, what do you expect.

What about all the old timers who use wood. How you gonna check that?
The article specifically says "gas and water heated". Water heating systems also use gas; they have a gas shortage. Electric or wood heated homes are not mentioned and are presumably not included in the legislation.
Other than the jail time bit, I don't see this as any different than most States drought regulations. If you have a set supply of gas, and have no way to increase the supply, rationing it out so everyone gets a survivable temperature in their building seems like a good plan. What's the alternative? Everyone uses as much as they want until it runs out, then they all freeze together? Maybe it's the bedtime MMJ, but I can't really figure out why some of the posters above me are so angry about this.

The shortage is caused by the government. The government then punishes people with jail for the problem they caused.

Switzerland can easily and in just moments eliminate its energy crunch by banning downhill skiing!

It is THE most un-green recreational activity. Serves no purpose. Is only done by rich white people. And is a massive energy suck, whether in the travel to get to the mountains or the cost of running huge electric chairlifts… snowmaking. Huge resort hotels.

Want green? Start by banning downhill skiing.

Every ski resort in America should shut down to save energy and the environment. The Swiss could easily follow suit. You know how many homes could be heated or ‘necessary’ trip to work, etc could be made with the energy wasted so rich white liberals can dress up like Jean Claude Killy and glide down mountains… that are kept clear all summer with big diesel machines?

I don’t want to ever hear a single word about “green” spoken by anyone with a Thule Rack on their Yukon driving 600 miles each weekend to Vermont or Vail to be part of the energy-eating ski set.

And 68 degrees? Wtf. Thermostat here at Schloss nitrocellulose is fixed at 60. Wood stove warms up more than that… for comfort while awake. Wool blankets make for comfy sleeping.

68? What are you guys… from Guinea? Or Lesotho?

Damn….
Where are you from, Utquiagvik?

Socialism is hate, intolerance and the demand for an irrational level of control over every aspect of life.

Fuck Joe Biden with Janet Yellen.
Government under any name has an irrational lever of control over every aspect of life. Why do politicians, who we all know are the scum of the earth, get to decide how much and what control is necessary over someone else’s life that wants to be left alone? Isn’t any too much? Why is it okay for them to extort money from the real Americans in the private sector to pay for their gov’t sector statists that carry out their twisted agendas at the expense of the rest of us. The biggest question is how has so many people been fooled to believe that the massive police states that rule the world without exception is the way to progress civilization. Obviously its fucking not.

You get used to it, Festus J. Pettimore! You darn Southerners don't know what cold is ;-) and this southerner has no interest in learning about it.

Then again, I sweat when it gets to 75...

I don't see an issue. My heat is set to 60º F in winter. Quite comfortable.

I’m now telling you to turn it off or I’m sending men that I force you to pay for to kill you leaving your family to suffer, for the constitution of course. Now how do you feel about that? Even the illusion of choice is being taken away. That’s gov’t in a nutshell.

I would prefer not to travel the path of collective guilt. I don't really want to submit my life to what Americans deserve for electing Joe Biden.

Our automatic thermostat keeps it at 66 during waking hours and sets it to 50 at night. I'm not comfortable when it's over 70 anyway unless it's Summer and I'm outdoors.

VooDoo

Your attitude and the attitude of those like you are largely to blame for the various .gov's around the world's recent open taste for tyranny.

"I don't wear red so fuck it, ban red shirts"

"I don't wear green so fuck it, ban green shirts"

"I don't wear blue so fuck it, ban blue shirts"

Until YOUR colour is next on the list, then it's all "wat do you mean I'M not permitted to wear MY orange shirts anymore, this is an outrage and gross abuse of power"

Complete ignorance and/or apathy to matters that don't affect your personal standard of living, UNTIL they affect your personal standard of living.

Speaking of Switzerland. Nothing to see here...

Why is Switzerland so "Satanic-seeming"?

Shame because some of the finest rifles are made there - Bleiker(if Audemars Piguet made target rifles..):

- Grunig & Elmiger(if Ferrari made target rifles..):

^^produces their own in-house single point cut-rifled barrels

And who can forget the masterrace of combat rifles:

This is the government overreach made possible by the covid hoax.
