I'm going to chime in and throw a curveball: Boyt H51 gun case.
I have an M96 Windrunner and wanted lots of padding due to the investment. The Boyt gave me more clearance than anything else including a Pelican 1750 and SKB case. It also allows me to keep all sorts of goodies in there as well. The Boyt is equally as rugged in my opinion as the 1750 and SKB. The main gripe I have is finding locks for it is not as easy as the Pelican due to the holes being longer.
Here is the case:

All that being said, I also do LOVE my 1750 (currently housing my 308) and SKB (Semi-Precision AR15). Overall I would rate them 1-Pelican 2-Boyt 3-SKB with the Boyt coming in a close second. However due to your desired use, I think the Boyt would serve you better.
