Nevermind all that pistols are for the range and rifle failures I want the AR by my side when and if possible.

Why not keep an AR behind a painting in the bedroom and just lock everything else up in a safe? AR's are cheap right now anways, and odds of them checking behind every wall hanging art piece in your house are pretty low.

Now, if you need something to secure your handgun next to the bed, I would recommend this vault:

Actually for that, I have one of these: Gun Vault and I love it. I do need to find a better way to secure it, but it functions very well. </div></div>

Those Gunvaults are a piece of junk. I thought they worked pretty well too until my batteries ran out and I couldn't find the key... so I took a screwdriver and popped that thing open in 20 seconds, it was way too easy.

The casing is made of aluminum with steel inserts at the locking mechanism, which made prying it open a snap. Even though they seem cool, I wouldn't recommend them.

Re: Gun Safe and the Wife...

OK, I looked at the website. It can definitely be done, but it's so big I wonder if the closet idea might look better. Honestly, I'll bet the cost would be the same or even a little more to do the armoir route. If you'd like to pursue it, let me know and I'll draw something up.

Re: Gun Safe and the Wife...

I would be interested, but having said that I wouldn't want you to go to a lot of trouble either. I mean - I have no idea what something like that would cost and you're in another state from where I'm at so I'm just trying to keep cost in mind for the entire project.

Re: Gun Safe and the Wife...

My wife and I went will the living room... does is look good? no, but it is functional. I have a place to put my gym shoes and keys. She has a place to put more candles and flowers. Have you tried telling her that it'll be 4'x4' of shelf space
