Gunfire PSA- Talk to your family about the LAPD Trader Joe's shootout

I can't tell you how many people are not impressed by a gun being pointed at them....
I can't tell you how many people seek a cell phone for Video when they should be seeking hard cover, concealment or leaving the area.

An Innocent person was shot at Trader Joe's by LAPD.

Please take a moment to discuss this with family members.... I know, you are at Target, you spent an hour filling the cart- When something happens- Abandon the cart- Collect the kids- unass the area.

You can always come back and find your cart.
You can always shop at another store.

You cannot dodge bullets...

So have that conversation with the family.... What do you do when something strange happens or you hear gunfire

In the North Hollywood Shootout- LAPD vs. 2 criminals....

9 people and officers where hit by "Friendly" fire
0 were hit by the badguys

2,000 rounds fired and people were watching out their windows....

The end result-
2 bad guys dead
9 people shot by accident
&
19 officers of the LAPD received the departmental Medal of Valor for their actions, and met President Bill Clinton..

Aside from my still minor children, my tips for family members revolves around BRASS-F and don't live in a state that isn't Shall Issue or better yet, live in one that is Constitutional Carry the way our nation's founders intended it.

And on a related note: how many down are you on an IPSC at 50 yards? How about 100 yards? How fast are you? What if you set a par time of 2 seconds - how much heat can you bring and still be 0 down? Typical full length of grocery isle - how fast are you and 0 down?

Do you know how to get to the back door of most places you shop?

The Retail experience in general affords little if any real cover.

My Target has two giant front entrances and a 3rd from the online pick up

My grocery store has 2 front entrances and if your to the the public bathroom it takes you to the storage/ loading docks

But how many people simply watch and film even when gunfire has occurred

Perhaps an upgrade in which weapons they use in order to be a bit more accurate before pistol shooting without being sure of their targets.

Do you think there will be any kind of the same consequences for those shooting and hitting bystanders as there would be if your average civilian accidentally hit somebody other than the threat?

Seems perhaps in many instances, the knowledge of a complete lack of personal cost and personal liability tends to make some a bit wild with shooting.
