Hey guys and gals, do any of you watch this show, by chance? I just finished watching the 2012 Dall Sheep expedition in BC and during the "DIY" segment, Aaron broke down the company's LR-1000 to show proper maintenance, etc... When he took the bottom metal out, he stated that they were using Savage's accu-wedge on all of their LR-1000 models; no bedding, just a V-block supporting the stock. He stated it is a "very unique...very handy piece of equipment..."
Anyhow, I owned two Savage's with accu-stocks; one with accu-wedge, the other without it. I had read that Savage got rid of the feature because it was essentially pointless (could not verify this info, BTW). Any of you folks care to take a stab as to why they would use this piece of equipment, is it more cost effective than bedding every rifle they produce? I have no clue, but I think it is very curious. I thought the damn accu-wedge was only a hindrance, just another deal that needed to be properly torqued down or POI could change.
Either way, I enjoy the show and oogling over the products. The show does make me one jealous SOB...hunting and building slick rifles everyday as an occupation must be a terrible cross to bear!
Conjecture is absolutely welcome on this one! Theorize away...
