Hi Everyone
Today I managed to go to the range and do some testing.
Here is my sizing process:
-Peterson 4 times fired LRP
-FL sized with SAC sizing die
-Ran through mandrel for 2k neck tension.
Trimmed to 2.009
C.B.T.O= 2.168 (0.020 off the jam)
All cartridges within 1 thou variations in seating depth.
C.O.A.L= 2.902
Primer: CCI BR2 and cci 250
Powder: H4350
Chronograph: LabRadar

Here is the results:

CCI 250

39.6gr
SD: 6.52 ES:15.15 2633 fps

39.8gr
SD: 30.33 ES:68:13 2621 fps

40.0gr
SD: 5.19 ES: 12.80 2673 fps

40.2gr

40.8gr

41gr
SD: 19.89 ES:48.38 2716fps

41.2gr
SD: 7.59 ES: 19.46 2724fps

I think these velocities are a bit higher comparing to what I had before
For instance My max load with br2 was 41.2
Now I have ejector marks starting from 40.4 gr.

I cleaned the crap out of the carbon ring usinf BT C4 and Jb bore paste and it was shiny, 2 days prior to shooting.

My schedule is super busy and can not go to range whenever I want.

Wondering If I can still use these velocity nodes to settle my ladder test hopping the pressure drops with shorter OAL but still having good sd/es?

Any suggestions to choose the right node would be appreciated.

Questions:

- Assuming the cartridge is 6.5 CM?
- How many shots per charge weight?
- How much are you bumping back the shoulders on the FL size? Are you measuring for consistency?

Sorry,
Yes 6.5 CM
5 shots per cw
I have to bump 4 thou in order to drop the bolt freely(striped down)
All cases were within 1thou of shoulder bump variance (1.4845-1.4835)

I see zero results provided.
Trying to find the flat spot in velocity with increasing the charge weight, my question is if I can use these velocity flat spots even it seems a bit over pressured
(Faint swipe marks in the case head)

Good luck finding a load that shoots well with a spreadsheet and zero just seeing how well it shoots.

You have a labradar. Why would you not use it in conjunction with shooting actual targets?

I thought in ladder test we don't shoot for groups, we find flat spot and we tune the seating depth after?!
Study up on actual ladder tests vs that youtube number bs

The forum is trying to point out that a test uses the target data as the priority, not the velocity.

The Audette Ladder uses a cluster in the shot fall of a wide sweep in fine steps shot at distance.
The OCW method uses the group centroid and watches for stability in the centroid for at least a few charge steps.
Both methods are early looks and will require further investigation.
While there isn't any harm in looking at velocity in these tests in parallel, you don't pivot a decision on them yet.

Looking at velocity over the targets and calculating things like ES/SD on five shots or looking for "flat spots" is going to make you yet another victim of that Satterlee mythology.
