A buddy of mine gave me 5 lbs. of H870. I cannot seem to find any load data for this powder. Would it work for 300 Win Mag & if so, does anyone have any load data?

I also was given a few pounds of H870. So far I've had zero use for it. But I went into my archives and found the 2002 Hodgdon basic loading manual. It does show a couple loads for 300 win mag using this powder. I extracted the one page and will attach it here. The data only shows the max load.

Hey y'all. I'm reloading some wildcats my grandpa made and he used h870 for all of them. Obviously can't find it anywhere any longer.

If y'all don't have any uses for it, I would love make a trade or other arrangement for as much as you all are willing to part with. Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure your first post is violating Hide rules. If you wish to remain here in good standing I suggest you edit or delete your post. All WTB or WTS posts must be made in the proper section and there's a fee and secret handshake involved. As for the H870, it's long gone.

@Bucklaw
Hodgdon 870 is long gone.
However, WC 872 is very close to it. It does have a bit more volume vs weight, so you'll have to use a bit more weight to get the same velocity.
I shot some of it a few weeks ago in a 7-mag. Accuracy was stellar, but I ran out of case capacity before I hit the velocity I got from H-870.
At $60/8-lb it's worth an experiment

BTW, any of the old reloading books prior to 95 should have lots of data with H-870.
Basically, if you pay attention to the old listed loads, it works best at 100% load density without compression.
