that depends on what you think is correct. at 4x the subtension is .5mil which to me and most long range guys that is what i would call ''correct" but 1 mil at 2x is fine as well.

I suggest keeping CR123s in even when using an external battery pack. In case of poor cable connection or something else going wrong with the external pack, the Halo will roll right back to internals. Internal batteries are not drained when there is a USB power source so they will last forever while providing a good backup.
