St Paddy's is a big deal in our household. (
Padgraig) Me Mum's folks, they come from Mayo (the County, that is). Lavins, aka Laughlans My only Grandson is named Patrick. My Maternal Grandmother's Brother was Eddie Lavin, and he was a Battalion Chief of New York City's Bravest back in the 1960's.
We make the corned beef and call the date Cabbage Day. I eat and eat and eat the corned beef, with a buncha yellow mustard on the side.
Our neighbors from across the street came over, had their first corned beef ever (they are from Alaska and Portland, and Liberal to a fault), pronouncing it excellent. We managed to stay off politics and the day ended with absolutely no blood.
Alas, my ticker was on a rampage and I limited myself to but a single beer. Dang. Dadangdangdang. The times, they shall improve.
