Special thanks to all those who served! Remembering my grandfather who served in Korea.

I'm sorry, but yeah it sucks deploying to war. However I have to give it up to the vets of WW2, Korea and Vietnam.

They had a true shit sandwich to bite off.

Doc
My father was in Korea, part of Signal Corp, and he admits he had it "easy" compared to any infantry. I always wanted to take him to South Korea so he could see what the country had become. His descriptions and some old slides showed the honey-wagons, the sewage just running through a trough in the streets, abject and REAL poverty. His stories about having to go check on a few downed lines and going through a tunnel that had blocked off with with boulders from one side to the other was pretty wild. But, like most of those guys from that era...it was nothing to be talked about casually and you could tell there was still a lot of emotion under that.

Again, thanks to you veterans!!!

Damn that would have been a hell of a trip. Emotional I bet.
He died a few years ago, but I knew he'd never go with my mother, but once she passed I thought maybe I could coax him. But my employment status was less than comfortable so I really wasn't in the situation to be burning that (and he would not have allowed me). I also know I'd have had my work cut out for me as he wasn't really that interested in going - just like so many. Most likely they don't want to open that box that is part of the untold sacrifice by so many - having to keep that inside all bottled up. I think had he gotten there, he'd have been amazed and hopefully proud that his along with so many more people's efforts helped so many. He did acknowledge it'd be interesting and when I actually worked with somebody who was on the same line in S. Korea in the 80s Dad kind of perked up. It's getting through the startup friction (stiction) that is the problem - I also think it can be part of and maybe the close of the healing process.
