I went to the range yesterday with my newly purchased 700 Tactical and was unimpressed with my groups(around 1 MOA at 100 yards), so I did a little dry firing to make sure I wasn't flinching, making a smooth pull, etc. What I found is that when the hammer dropped, my reticule jumped about .5 MOA down and stayed there. I was shooting off of a front and rear rest, taking my supporting hand and pushing the stock back into my shoulder and down into the rear rest which made it rock solid. I verified that the barrel was free floating and that there were no loose screws anywhere.

So my question, is it something I am doing or a piece of equipment that is failing me?

Equipment list:
Remington 700 Tactical .308
Stock Hogue stock w/ barrel channel cut out so it doesn't touch barrel
EGW base
TPS rings
Falcon Menace 4-14 FFP scope
M118LR

Any help is appreciated.
