Just got a hand me down 1A2 L from a guy that Just returned from the desert. He had to do some quick modifications to it to mount it on whatever he was shooting. Basically just removed the mount attachment that would connect to the swivel stud. There appears to be a shim (steel) that fits between a top and bottom tab that has also been removed. I've been trying to find a diagram to find the proper names for these items I'm in need of but have had no luck. Is contacting Harris my only option?? Thanks, CD

Re: Harris bipod parts (where?)

The lack of a response to your question is your answer.

Short of calling up Harris Engineering and trying to see if they'll sell you the parts you need to fix your "gifted" bipod, there are no retailers selling "bipod parts" aside from pod-loks, accessory feet/claws, etc. I think you are S.O.L. with Harris though from my experience.

You are probably better off just picking up a new one for $65 and calling it quits on trying to fix the broken one you have now. MidwayUSA has the 1A2L on sale right now until the end of the month for around $63+S&H IIRC. Now may also be the time to consider moving up to the swivel model which will give you a lot more flexibility with your rifle setup.

Re: Harris bipod parts (where?)

Harris will call you back.
They are a very "old" style company. No computers, high speed processing or upgrades. If anyone wants to get in touch with the President of the company they either talk to her (Mrs. Edna) on the phone or write a letter.
While charming in its old school ways it does tend to get on ones nerves getting things done.
Give them a call and they will take care of the bipod.
