As I understand it, a Rem 700 long action can be made to work for a 338 Edge (tho not for 338LM)

Provided I find a Rem700LA at a good price, what's involved in adapting it to 338 Edge?

What's "blueprinting" and is it required, or just a good idea?

Does the 700LA action need to be modified at all?

Can I change the bolt face to work with 338 Edge, or do I hafta get a new bolt.

Any other info also appreciated.

It would also depend on what options you want. Are you going to single feed? If so use a .300 RUM action and your good. Do you want a DM system, if so who's? If you answered yes to the last question more than likely you will need modifications to the bottom end of your action.

I build my .338 Edge off a Rem 700 BDL .300 RUM action. 300 RUM and .338 Edge have the same bolt DCW diameter as its the same case, just expanded to seat a .338 bullet. I know "RUMRunner" was selling a stainless .300 RUM mod 700 action a little bit ago. PM him and see of he still has it.
