Has anyone build their own chassis from scratch

There's people that have done it, even without an full CNC (although a minimum of a computer controlled mill will help dramatically), but it's rarely worth the headaches in my opinion. I can't think of any chassis offhand that even have welds on them any more - pretty much everything is CNC machined and bolted together, or machined from a single piece.

Yeah I guess that makes sense,
I wonder if printed plastic is up to the task with a metal insert and epoxy at the recoil lug. I’m gonna have to do more searching around

PLA probably isn't going to hold up without some *very* careful consideration of orientation and design to give it strength in the right places/directions. Resin might do it easier. Either way, you'd need one hell of a printer.

Me and a couple of guys tried it... Much more involved then most would think! The other piece is the continual prototyping necessary... You'll sink a ton of money in it before you having a working piece of hardware...

As Josh said above... Go to a good / reputable company and get to shooting!

You should definitely try to build your own. It would be a rewarding experience. However at the end you will see that you have far more $ and time invested than if you bought even our high end Whiskey-3 let alone one of our Bravo's. That doesn't always matter though as a lot of times it's the journey, not the end result, that is rewarding.

I’m seeing that. I have access to welders and a 3D printer, but not a CNBC, I was playing with many ideas but for now I’m realizing that the cost of time and materials for trial and error could easily exceed the cost of buying a chassis, and likely not be as good. Not undoable... but not practical in my case. I’m sure some guys on here will be the exception.
