I'm switching from a seekins DBM back to a hinged floor plate. At first I was going to just replace it with a steel remington BDL setup. But I really don't want to have to fill the voids l, make and install new pillars and paint my stock(I repair and paint shit all day). So I'm considering making my own floor plate that fits the current inlet. I realize it's not really practical, but I'm looking at the challange aspect. Has anyone made their own bottom metal? If so could you share some pictures?
Thanks
Donald

If you have a foundry (think local high school) I think it would be pretty easy to make an aluminum one. Take a factory Remington one and build it up with bondo. Sand and shape it to suit then use it to make a sand mold and just pour a new one. It will need some clean up and a little machining but you will end up with what you want. Then Cerakote it for a really professional look.

No pictures for you...
But yes, years ago I machined up one for a 6.5 Swede...
I was pleased with the out come but time involved was excessive...
You have everything you need to take datum points off of,that's the hard part, then it just takes time...much less time would be required to patch and paint what you have and put the Remington metal back in...but you did say you wanted a challenge... so I wish you luck, have fun...
