I just recently acquired a Stainless Steel Volquartsen Replacement Receiver. I just purchase a KIDD stainless match barrel for this receiver. I am guess since KIDD makes their barrel tenon slightly larger than spec. I have been informed that I could possibly heat the receiver to make a super sung fit. I am looking for some direction on heating the receiver. I am guess baking it, but what temps and how long will be my main two questions. Any assistance would be helpful.

Barrel goes in the freezer, heatgun goes on the receiver.

Then put them together.

Measure first though...since you are using 2 companies.

In my experience, not more than 0.001".

Take a look at the dimensions, look up the thermal expansion coefficient of stainless, and see how small your freezer (say, at zero degrees) will get the barrel.

Last AR conversion was a SOLID thousandth. Not easy.

That involved a 2x4. I wasn't really that scared, because it was "only" a BCM upper at stake, and no way was it going to damage the barrel.

I have already decided that I will just cut the receiver if I ever have to remove that barrel.
