I am looking at installing either a Area 419 Hellfire or Sidewinder on my .308 win match rifle.
I have some questions for those who have used both of these brakes.
Does the Sidewinder make a significant improvement over the Hellfire in recoil reduction/overall performance or does it end up being overkill on a non-magnum such as the .308 win?
Having used both (on .308) which did you have a preference for?

Thanks in advance for any and all insights

Do the hellfire. Haven’t tested side by side, but there is no reason to hang a sidewinder off a .308. I’d wager the hellfire would be more effective, or at least equal. The sidewinder is for magnums.

I have a Sidewinder on a DTA Covert and it works great. But it's a 300 Winmag. I agree with other posters, it would be overkill on a .308 since it really is designed for magnum calibers.
